#TuksRugby: Tuks rises from the ashes

Posted on June 18, 2016

The TuksRugby teams are moving up in the Carlton Cup. Nobody would have believed that the team that occupied the last position for numerous weeks would be number one on the log in week 11 of the Carlton Cup. This past week saw Tuks make a statement by winning all their matches against Centurion in Pretoria.

The day began with Tuks 3 (Pumas) and Tuks U/20 facing Centurion respectively. Tuks 3(Pumas) gave the Centurions a good run and beat them by 36-7. The U/20 had a tough encounter but managed to seal the win with a scoreline of 22-12 thanks to a bonus try. Tuks U/21 proved to be consistent by pulling off a big win over a team that is trying to secure their spot in the semi-finals. The final score was 114-14 to Tuks.  Tuks 2(Fezelas) added to the Centurion teams woes by thrashing them 73-7.

UP-Tuks 1 had a lot to prove when they faced crowd favourites, Centurion. The UP-Tuks team has risen from the ashes to be the log leader in the Carlton Cup tournament after 11 weeks. The 51-6 win against Centurion has boosted the player’s confidence prompting the team to display “Champagne Rugby”-running with the ball from all areas and giving their opponents no rest.

The University of Pretoria team will take a 4-week break from the tournament to focus on the upcoming USSA tournament were Tuks will face different South African universities in a knock-out stage tournament.
