Maties overcame Tuks in the second Cup semi-final after they beat the men from Pretoria 12-5 in an extremely tight encounter.
Maties will now face UWC in the Cup final of the Varsity 7s in an all Western Cape final. The sides were all even, 5-5 at the break as Tuks threatened to score again towards the end of the first half but handling let them down.
Brandon Asher-Wood scored the first try for Maties before Hein Schoeman got one back for Tuks.
The second half only saw the one try from Maties, Kyle Steyn ran from his own half to score in the corner. Pierre du Toit converted as Maties held on for the 12-5 win.
