On 16 September 2015 Prof Boraine released the following statement in the Faculty:  'It gives me pleasure to inform you that Professor Steve Cornelius has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Private Law, effective as from 1 October 2015. Amongst others, Professor Cornelius is the former Head of the Department of Private Law at UJ and  he is an esteemed researcher with a B3 NRF rating. We wish him well with this endeavour and we are looking forward to work with him in future.

At the same time I wish to thank Professor Trynie Boezaart for her excellent service to the Department of Private Law, our Faculty and the University over the years. She clearly led by example and, in spite of a demanding work schedule, she managed the second largest department in the faculty with great courage and wisdom. She also set an exemplary example by continuing her ordinary academic endeavours, and in fact improved her NRF rating to a B2 rating during this period.'
