Biography

Marike Smit is an occupational therapist working in private practice and supervising fourth-year occupational therapy students during their community fieldwork in Mamelodi, Pretoria. I live in Pretoria with my husband and 2 children. I love gardening, woodwork, cooking, and baking.

Research description

This is a pilot project sharing the narratives of community members involved in various UP-student-led projects on their daily experiences and realities navigating their lives in vulnerable communities in the city of Tshwane.

This will contribute to the larger umbrella project - Developing an organized public action archiving practice in community-based development initiatives and personal storytelling through a social innovation hub.
