Biography
Milehna M. Guarido is a PhD candidate in Medical Virology at the Centre for Viral Zoonoses, University of Pretoria, South Africa. She has a background in Biological Science, with a master’s degree in Entomology from the University of the State of Paraná, Brazil. Previously, she worked within Applied Zoology, mainly on the Integrated Control of Culicidae species. Her master's degree concerned the control Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus using botanical larvicidal. Upon completion of her master's degree, she worked at the University of the State of Santa Catarina, teaching engineering students environmental impact assessment. In 2016, she began her PhD at the University of Pretoria with a thesis focused on investigating Aedes species as potential arbovirus vectors in multiple provinces across South Africa.
