Biography I have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (D.V.M) from the Usmanu Dan Fodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria, and a Masters (MSc) and doctoral (PhD) degrees in Veterinary Science from the Department of Veterinary Tropical Diseases, University of Pretoria, South Africa. My PhD focused on “Seroprevalence and characterization of Brucella spp. from livestock slaughtered in Gauteng abattoirs, South Africa”: Food safety implications for meat consumers and zoonotic hazards posed to abattoir workers.” I investigated the occurrence of Brucella antibodies in cattle, sheep, pigs, and humans at abattoirs. This provided the first evidence of Brucella melitensis biovar 2 and 3 in cattle and Brucella suis in pigs and sheep in South Africa. |
