SA team gear up for junior champs

Athletics South Africa on Wednesday announced the final team to the IAAF World Junior Championships to be held on 19-26 July 2016 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

This Under 20 Team consists of 23 athletes made of 16 boys and seven girls. In the team are also 12 athletes who will contest the relays.

“We are excited with the team we have selected and believe they will rise to the challenge and make our Rainbow Nation proud.

“ASA have selected relay teams as part of a continuing effort to encourage relay running in South Africa. We have had a wonderful domestic Track and Field season where our juniors excelled and showed great promise.

"Our sprinters have shown tremendous improvement and consistency, and this is where we draw our confidence from and trust that we will be well represented in Poland.

“And we’ve also come from a successful CAA 20th African Senior Championships which ended on Sunday in Durban where our junior athletes showed great character,” said Aleck Skhosana the President of Athletics South Africa.
