Gift Leotlela, TuksSport High School learner won his second sprint gold medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa by winning the 200 metres in 20.56s this morning (9/09). His winning time was 0.01s faster that Kyle Appel’s South African youth record of 20.57s, but unfortunately the wind from behind was too strong for record purposes.
On Monday Leotlela won the 100 metres in 10.20s. His time is just 0.01 seconds slower than the 10.19 seconds run by Japan’s Yoshihide Kiryu in November 2012. The Japanese’s time is listed on the IAAF rankings as the fastest ever run by a youth athlete.
