Enactus UP

Enactus is a global non-profit organisation with over 62 000 students and has chapters on more than 1600 tertiary institutions. En- act-us stands for Entrepreneurship, Action and Us and has a presence in 38 countries around the world. Formerly known as SIFE, Enactus aims to create sustainable community development projects through entrepreneurial action.  Students are encouraged to implement strategic projects, which address the unique needs of the community. On an annual basis, students from each Enactus chapter form teams to compete at a National Competition, where they present on their community development projects.  This competition provides students with the opportunity to represent their country in the Enactus World Cup.

Enactus UP represents the University of Pretoria’s chapter of this organisation and is one of the most diverse chapters in South Africa. As Enactus UP, we believe in:  “The vision that enlightens us to look up, putting in the work to push up, encouraging each other to grow up. Enactus UP, the programme that defines what it is to act up.” It is important to note that we are not a charity organisation but rather a group of students who provide communities with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve their standard of living and quality of life. Our community engagement projects include the following: Project Kickbax - a shoe production business and Project Mohlakeng – a market for a multi-purpose community centre.
