The TuksSquash Ladies Teams were entered in the same pool, with both teams showing a positive competitive spirit and gutsy performance throughout the week, managed to finish 1 and 2 in their pool. This took them through to the semi-finals, where TuksLadies1 blasted straight through to the finals . Unfortunately TuksLadies2 had a close fought loss sending them to the 3 and 4 play-offs which took place on Friday Night 15 Feb. The final on friday was a fierce encounter with the TuksLadies1 team having to play the defending champions Harlequins. After a nail biting encounter TuksLadies1 went down by just 1 game, losing 7-8.
The TuksSquash Men’s Team after having previous disappointment in the finals of this League were hungry to take the title of Blitz League Champs 2013. From the first shot the men were showing a classy display of their quality pre-season work, breezing through the group stages to finish top of their pool. The semi-finals proved to much harder as the men came up against stiff competition, a Centurion team who were defending champions. After a gruelling evening, it all came down to the final game where the TuksMens1 team snatched the victory and they were into the finals. The finals took place on Friday Night, 15 Feb, where the men were determined to take it. After 4 very tight matches, testing the men’s character and endurance, the TuksSquash Men’s 1st team finally claimed to the Title of Northern’s Squash Association Blitz League winners 2013.
This is a very positive start for TuksSquash so early on in the season and the results are a good indication of the hard work and determination overflowing from the TuksSquash Centre.
