While studying, Alan's game  developed from that of a reserve league player to a provincial player
mainly under the influence of the iconic Jonah Barrington.

at the World Amateur Championships in London.

Alan is the holder of two World Masters titles - namely the over 45 as well as the over 50.

Not only has Alan competed at the highest level but he has coached extensively, including the Scottish
National team, and was appointed South Africa's National Coach from 1978-1981.  Currently, he is
Head Coach at Pretoria University.

Alan has written a book "Squash The Ambitious Players Guide".  He has also drafted some thought
on the Spirit of the game which is re-printed and precedes the NSA By-laws.

Alan has served on numerous squash committees, from WP, Northerns to Squash SA, culminating in a term as President of NSF.
