Complex problems require committed co-operation. SCIPP promotes local and international collaboration between public, private, scientific and community partners in order to deliver breakthrough medicine, new therapeutic approaches and policy solutions for mental health rooted in IKS.
SCIPP maintains a vital focus on the engagement and beneficiation of indigenous communities in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of psychological conditions through plants, fungi, music, dance, entheogenic ceremonies and traditional healing rituals. SCIPP partners with a growing network of research institutions and universities, government entities, pharmaceutical and natural health industry, mental health professionals, traditional healers and indigenous communities to foster capacitation and continued collaborative research to address the most critical problems around mental healthcare in our societies today.
SCIPP collaborates closely with institutions in Africa and the rest of the global South, promoting partnerships particularly between research centres of BRICS countries, all of which have a rich history of traditional natural medicine use.
