Workshops and discussion groups
Three workshops are will be hosted for continuing education of our scientific community.
- The Publishing and Young Pharmacologist workshop will allow delegates, primarily our Young Pharmacologists, to learn more about the publishing process (presented by Anne-Marie Pordon from Elsevier), and the way in which their dissertations or thesis will be examined. Young Pharmacologists are encouraged to attend to gain insight into how their research will be assessed, and how to achieve that cum laude. A surprise panel of panel of examiners will be available for questions. Who knows? Your examiner may be there.
- The Pharmacology Education round-table session will be an open-platform where health professional educationalists can come and share their thoughts on the training of students. The discussion will be focused on overcoming the challenges that educators face with regards to pharmacology education in the clinical fields, aimed at structuring ways in which core competencies can developed to improve patient-centredness.
A FUNDISA satellite workshop will be presented after the conference at the University of Pretoria's Prinshof Campus on Pharmacoeconomics. Please refer to the satellite workshop page for more information.
Functions
Two functions will be held during the conference.
- The Young Pharmacologist-organised function will be open to all delegates. This informal function will allow various members of the scientific community to come together to mingle and engage in some fun activities. A quiz night will be held where Young Pharmacologists will be teamed up with established academics and industry professionals to win prizes. Dr Suhayl Essa, a well-known comedian, will be entertaining all during the evening
- The Harvest Table/Cocktail Function will serve as a platform to congratulate the winners of the conference prizes. Delegates are invited to support our scientific community during this function, network, have fun, and eat some good food
