Well look who is in the gym now, TUKS 4th quarter begins and everyone and I mean everyone who is anyone is hitting the gym (TSG) hard at work.
This time of the year, more people hit the gym, and not just TSG. I think the pre-spring, and pre-holidays rush gets all the students excited in attempting and many succeeding in getting back into shape, firming-up etc. The only reason this pre-spring period lasts longer than the post-holiday (summer) the following year, is because it has two enthusiastic groups, A & B in one period.
First you have your, “need to look awesome for spring group”. These are mostly more females who hit the gym hard two to three weeks before the official “spring day”, all with one goal, to look better wearing less. All want to loose weight for the bikini, have toned bodies for spring bash, and shaped legs for those skirts. There are a few guys who feel guilty for putting on winter fat, who join too but not half as many new male signups as females. Secondly you find your, post-spring people more focused on the up coming holiday season, the Xmas, New Year enthusiasts. Groups may include some of those people from group A, who gave up on the idea of loosing the winter fat in-time for the “spring body”. These people here all have the same goal, I need a beach body, or at least one better than my current. Chatting to some male members (students & non-students) about the gym during this time of the year, all of them enjoy it because there are a stack of new female faces floating in and out of the gym more then any other time before. On the other side our female members say they enjoy the gym way more now to because they do not feel so out numbered like before, and are more open to explore the other parts of the gym, other than just cardio & stretching area’s . All in all, our members are satisfied, enjoy there time here and that’s what we as TSG Staff want to hear.Copyright © University of Pretoria 2025. All rights reserved.
