Supplements: do get out what you put in

Posted on February 26, 2009

Do not get me wrong I am not saying live on supplements only but because they are commercially processed, the fat percentage is reasonably low. So they will assist you in lowering your fat percentage. This is a valid advantage seeing that obesity has become such an epidemic. Plus supplements will give you an edge over your body by providing you with the nutrients before the window period of catabolism.

But the question is, which supplement brand should I take? The majority of supplementation companies will not take a chance (with the exception of US) by not adding sufficient Carbs and include 10g of protein then hope that you get a placebo effect from using their product because it is marketed so well.

Supplementation companies want to compete and they will go to great lengths to devise a good formula for their products. The pricing for affordable supplements only differ by a couple of rands. So if the supplement you want is a couple of hundreds above the other supplements prices I smell Vit S (Steroidal properties) and if its a couple hundreds below other supplement prices then I smell placebo (basically there’s nothing in it).

And on that Steroid note, if hard work pays in many ways it’s not worth it. Besides the highly probably physical and psychological consequences it does not do justice to your own abilities. What are the consequences? Unless you are concerned about the population crisis and do not intend to have offspring of your own: yes sperm count, prostate cancer and sterility are a great possibility in the future.
