Why do you do it?

One minute they were at a “Bring your own Beer” Braai and now they are at the treadmill. They do it because it’s just something that has to be done due to the stage of life they are in. They are here because media “informatainment” ads make it attractive to be fit and enforce body image as an important element of happiness in society. Due to their interactive nature they want to satisfy their need for affiliation and therefore pursue this ideology unconsciously. Remember the same media has kept you from social interaction by providing you with entertainment around the clock, so they can tell you what will make you happy because they know better about society.

Therefore you do not just do it because you do it but because you now have an image problem. Remember you are still the same guy who was popular in high school. How did you get here? You just saw the unpopular guy in high school with these massive arms; what about his legs? Maybe you now do it to relive your golden days, but now you have lost your flamboyancy. Added to the unconscious decision and image problem you are now doing it because you have a complex. Is that what you break a sweat, become stiff and pay the gym fee for?

Maybe you are doing it to readdress past habits; if this is the case, you should be commended for it. You have tasted the reality of your bad habits and now your taste buds can’t take it anymore. So you are doing it to correct physiological and now psychological imbalances. Do it because everybody has problems and so do you. Whatever drives you to do it just make sure you do it to perfection because if you don’t it will end up as another unfinished chapter.
