Dean André Boraine announced Prof Nienaber's appointment as Head of the Department of Public Law as follows:  'It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Annelize Nienaber as the Head of the Department of Public Law with effect 1 July 2017.  We wish her well on this new journey and we look forward to working with her in her new capacity! Congratulations!'

He also made use of the opportunity to thank the outgoing HoD, Prof Pieter Carstens, 'At the same time I wish to thank Pieter Carstens for the splendid way in which he steered the Department over the last four years. It was only a pleasure working with you, Pieter, but I realise you will now rather invest your time in what you love most, namely researching your beloved subject and expanding your initiatives in the field!'
