The Department of Political Sciences invites you to a seminar on "Looking back and looking forward: Africa's relations with India and China", to be held on Thursday 12 November.

The India-Africa Forum Summit was held in New Delhi from 26-30 October 2015 and in early December South Africa will co-host the tri-annual FOCAC Summit in Johannesburg. This seminar will discuss these two summits, paying attention to the outcome of the India-Africa Summit and prospects for the FOCAC Summit.

Programme

  • ‘Modi’s new foreign policy agenda and India-Africa relations’: Elizabeth Sidiropoulos, National Director of the South African Institute of International Affaris (SAIIA)
  • ‘Contextualising FOCAC in China’s ‘new politcal and economic normal’’: Sanusha Naidu, senior research associate, Institute for Global Dialogue (IGD) and research associate of the Department of Political Sciences, UP.
