The Department of Political Sciences invites you to a seminar on the topic SA Futures 2035: Can Bafana Bafana Still Score? to be presented by Dr Jakkie Cilliers on 18 August.
Jakkie Cilliers is the Executive Director of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and Head of the African Futures and Innovation Section. He holds a DLit et Phil from the UNISA. He was co-founder of the ISS and was closely involved in the transformation of the post-apartheid security sector in South Africa. His current interests relate to the emerging security architecture in Africa, as well as issues around the continent’s long-term future. He is the author of numerous books and papers dealing with African security issues and serves on the editorial boards of the African Security Review and the South African Journal of International Affairs. He is an extraordinary professor in the Centre for Human Rights and the Department of Political Sciences at the University of Pretoria and serves on the advisory bodies of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and the Centre on International Conflict Resolution, Columbia University, New York.
