On 17 September the Centre for Mediation in Africa's director, Laurie Nathan, addressed the inaugural meeting of the new members of the African Union's Panel of the Wise.
The Panel is one of the organisation’s principal conflict prevention mechanisms. The new members include Lakhdar Brahimi, Edem Kodjo and Luisa Diogo as the Chairperson.
Professor Nathan's presentation focused on the different peacemaking strategies that the Panel could undertake in response to structural and dynamic early warning of violent conflict.
