Roundtable: Water Research: Working Across the Disciplines

Posted on February 29, 2012

Water resource management, usage and protection cut across the political, economic and social landscape. It is a complex subject closely linked to food security and energy production.

In an arid country such as South Africa, and a region with variable water access, quality and usage, these issues make for continuous and immense challenges. The role of research is crucial in providing the country (and the region) with the knowledge, tools and technologies to enable the provision of water to all, allowing for healthy and productive livelihoods.

The roundtable discussion will address how we can harness our competencies and expertise across the various faculties of the University to allow for high-level knowledge production addressing water management issues. The objective is to identify a number of project concepts that can be further developed into proposals for funding from various funding agencies.
