He holds a PhD in comparative and European politics and has published over 40 scientific articles on European Union governance and foreign policy, African governance, development policies and social progress indicators in international journals such as Development in Practice, Development Dialogue, European Foreign Affairs Review, Third World Quarterly, The Journal of Civil Society, The International Spectator, and African and Asian Studies. His most recent publications include Regions and Crises: New Challenges for Contemporary Regionalism (Palgrave 2012), Regionalism in a Changing World (Routledge 2012), European Union Democracy Aid (Routledge 2010) and External Perceptions of the European Union as a Global Actor (Routledge 2009, paperback 2011).
Between 2009 and 2012, Prof Fioramonti was involved in two EU-funded FP7 projects: "Mercury: Multilateralism and the EU in the Contemporary Global Order" and "EU-GRASP Changing Multilateralism: the EU as a Global-Regional Actor in Security and Peace".
