Physics students awarded prizes at SAIP 2013 conference

The department of physics was represented by a number of postgraduate students at the 58^th annual conference of the South African Institute of Physics (SAIP) hosted by the University of Zululand.

The physics department would like to congratulate the following four students, who were awarded prizes for their outstanding presentation of their research work.

• Mr Alexander Paradzah – Best MSc poster presentation in the field of condensed matter physics.
• Mr Cecil Ouma – Best PhD poster presentation in the field of condensed matter physics.
• Mr Kingsley Obodo – CHPC Computational physics award for the best PhD presentation, for his work in the field of Density Functional Theory.
• Mr Vonani Baloyi – Best oral presentation in the education section by a PhD Student.
