Theology extraordinary professor elected as an 'académicien plein'

Prof Thomas Römer was elected as an 'académicien plein' to France's prestigious Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres.

Prof Römer is extraordinary professor in the Department of Old Testament Studies in UP’s Faculty of Theology and visits UP annually for lectures and specialist seminars. He is also professor at the University of Lausanne, Switserland, and the College de France in Paris. He is one of the most distinct professors of Theology in the world.

Prof Römer will visit UP from 31 August to 2 September to participate on an interdisciplinary conference on ‘Land: texts, narratives and practices’. The conference will contemplate the issue of 'land' in the current South African context.
