The Jaguars made it two out of two this afternoon in Bloemfontein by beating the Kingdom Stars 42-25 in the Telkom Netball League.
The result was never really in question. The Jaguars took control from the very first minute with the efficient way they went about doing things on the court.
Tuks's Jasmine Ziegelmeier has again been outstanding on defence. Playing at goalkeeper, she has near perfected the art of disrupting any attack. Her disruptive influence in the circle has not gone unnoticed. She received the player of the match award. During the Jaguars first game against the Flames, she got the "Moment Maker-award".
Ziegelmeier refuses to take sole credit.
"I think what works are that Akosua Mensah and I combine so well in the circle. The two of compliment's each other's play. I sort of instinctively know what Akosua is doing and vice versa. We hardly talk. That makes things easy."
Mensah who also plays for Tuks received the "Moment Maker-award".
The one thing that would have excited Jenny van Dyk (Jaguars head coach) today is that every combination she tried worked. That bides well for the rest of the tournament.
Chantelle Swart, Danielle Van Zyl and Venetia Grobler impressed with their accuracy as goal shooters. They had 82% success rate.
Tomorrow at 13:00 the Jaguars play the Fireballs. It could be a humdinger as both teams are unbeaten.
