39 teams from 24 different houses participated in the league from April to September. Of the 39 teams, 20 teams played in the A division and 19 in the B division. Teams played in a round robin format against all the other teams in their division. The teams then played out for the final positions. There were five teams that pulled out of the league during the year.

TuksAthletics’ 800 world champion, Caster Semenya joined TuksNetball for the final matches and price giving ceremony 8 September 2009. She congratulated the players on their good performances. Curlitzia won the A Division and Nerina won the B Division.

Onderstepoort received the Spirit Trophy and Kiki Peenz from Curlitzia was selected as the Player of the Tournament.

A Top 15 Squad was selected to represent the Intramural league during the Steinhoff Cup 15 September.

Jenny says here was a big improvement in the standard of the tournament especially regarding the umpires and the conduct of players, but also added that the registration process was troublesome as some of the teams did not adhere to the final registration dates. This caused a lot of problems with the fixtures.

Some of the teams that registered to play did not pitch for the matches and was eliminated from the league. There were still some of the houses that were difficult to reach as the incorrect contact information was given. This led to a changing of the fixtures shortening of the league due to final results that had to be in earlier this year.

Jenny requested the SSC to please make sure that they have all the important dates for 2010 as soon as possible. Especially dates that the league should finish, serenades dates etc. She also requested all HK’s and players for feedback on this years league. It is a priority for TuksNetball to make sure that the league runs as smooth as possible next year.

Jenny thanked all the participating teams, SSC, HK’s, Tuks players, sport science students, facilities and first aid workers for all their hard work during the year.
