TuksNetball : Fastnet Series 2010

The Tuks Fastnet Series 2010 started on 26 August 2010 and ran through until 9 September 2010. Matches were played every Thursday from 16h00 – 19h00 at the TuksNetball outdoor courts.16 teams participated in the tournament as well as 3 Tuks teams who played friendly matches against the schools.

The schools/ clubs that entered was: Hoërskool Centurion, Woodhill College , Hoërskool Monument, HTS Witbank, Hoërskool Zwartkop, Hoërskool Montana, Steelcrest High School, Hoërskool Oos – Moot, Hoërskool Uitsig, Hoërskool Kempton Park, Hoërskool Warmbad, HTS Middelburg, Cornerstone High, Hoërskool Garsfontein, Hoërskool Ben Viljoen and Centurion Akademie.

The semi-finals and finals were played on 9 September. In the semi-finals HTS Middelburg beat HTS Witbank and Hoërskool Monument won against Hoërskool Zwartkop. HTS Middelburg and Hoërskool Monument played in the final. The two teams drew the match and had to play extra time (2 minutes a side) to determine a winner. Hoërskool Monument was crowned tournament winners and took home gold, winning the match by one point.

 To give the schools a taste of the brilliance of TuksNetball, Tuks 1 and Tuks 2 played an entertainment match against each other. Erin Burger who just arrived back from the Africa Qualifying Games crowned as the player of the tournament had a good match. National team mate Amanda Mynhardt also played in the Tuks 1 team.

Both teams performed well and made Tuks 1 Coach Elize Kotze and Tuks 2 Coach Jenny van Dyk proud. Tuks 1 went home with the victory.
