To research, preserve, interpret, curate, exhibit and promote museum collections entrusted to and inherited by the University of Pretoria;
To maintain and conserve collections and hold them in public trust on behalf of the University of Pretoria and for the benefit of community and wider society;
To hold primary evidence in its museum collections and archives for research purposes and to engage in transdisciplinarity and be generators of new knowledge;
To provide opportunities for the appreciation, enjoyment, education and engagement with museum collections and build cultural understanding for a more sustainable future;
To hold resources that provide engagement, both in person and in the digital space within and beyond the museum network both nationally and globally;
To offer a specialised service to the University of Pretoria community, the public and work in collaboration with diverse communities and researchers;
To operate in a moral, ethical and professional manner, compliant with the applicable legal and regulatory framework and in accordance with best international museum practices.
