The newer and more robust your computer, the faster and more efficient you will be as an online student. This means the more access power you have in your computer, modem, and Internet service provider, the more efficient you’ll be. Access to a computer at work or at home is required. The web-based nature of the modules implies that you require a few basic computer skills in order to successfully participate in the degree programme. Competence in written English is also important. The minimum computer skills required are:

Credits |
The programme totals 180 South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) or 60 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits. (This amounts to 1,800 notional hours or student investment time). The MSc has the following components:

English proficiency test |

Evaluation of qualifications – SAQA |
Postgraduate applicants must have their qualifications evaluated by SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority). |
Fees and funding |
The fees for the MSc (TAH) degree programme average R 45 000-R 55 000 for two years for SA and SADC countries. If you are not part of a SADC country, the fees will be doubled. The cost will be calculated per module, per year, and the dissertation is linked with the registration and re-registration fee. Research project funding: The cost of the research project will depend on the type of research undertaken. The project may be a retrospective study, or embrace work that the student has already done, but not published, or work that the student is currently busy with, or it can involve a survey of some kind, or a new project discussed with and approved by the supervisor. Depending on the type of project it can be at almost no cost or, if a new project must be done, the cost could range from R 50 000 to R 70 000 (project only). Students will be registered at both institutions but choose one institution for their primary registration, where the degree will be awarded. A single qualification is obtained. |
Requirements for admission |
Subject to the stipulations of the applicable General Regulations, a BScHons, a four-year BScAgric, BVSc or equivalent degree or a relevant postgraduate diploma (on NQF level 8) is required. Two years of professional experience might be required in certain cases. Additional Requirements According to the Bologna Bachelor-Master structure, a Masters degree is required to register at ITM. (Note: A four-year BSc degree in the South African context is equivalent to a Masters degree in the Bologna system). Two years of professional experience might be required in certain cases. It remains the prerogative of the head of department (UP) or course director (ITM) to require, in addition to the entrance requirements already mentioned, the successful completion of an admissions test before registration. A student may also be required to pass a proficiency test in English (TOEFL) at an acceptable level. The web-based/online nature of the modules requires basic computer skills in order to successfully participate in the degree programme. Also consult the General Regulations. Students are required to confirm whether a module will be presented in any particular year. In cases where web-based/online modules are offered, basic computer skills is required in order to successfully participate in the degree programme.
