Following 20 months of working remotely and away from each other since the onset of the Corona Virus pandemic in South Africa in March 2020, staff members in the Department of Mercantile Law participated in a retreat from 15 to 16 October 2021.  This staff-wellness and team-building exercise took place in the Magaliesberg area.

The Department also used the retreat to take a step back from daily activities to reflect on challenges and opportunities lying ahead, particularly looking into the 2022 academic year.

According to Head of the Department, Professor Phumudzo Munyai, ‘It was an absolute pleasure to see colleagues interact with one another again, as I was already starting to fear that the long period of time colleagues spent away from each other risked creating a disconnection among them in a way that could undermine collaboration and team spirit in the Department’.
