Nine members of the Department of Mercantile Law attended the Second Annual International Mercantile Law Conference from 5 to 7 November 2014 at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein.

The conference brought together a group of academics with an interest in the various disciplines in the field of Mercantile Law. The aim of the conference was to share current and leading research in Mercantile Law and to facilitate networking opportunities among Mercantile Law lecturers and scholars from South Africa and other countries around the world. The topics presented on included amongst others Electronic law, Insolvency law, International Economic law, Labour law, Law of Business Entities and Consumer protection law. A highlight of the conference was a tour of the Supreme Court of Appeal given by Judge Brand.
