This conference was first held in May 2006 in Hamburg, Germany and has since been held annually in Copenhagen, Istanbul, Beijing, New York, Prague, and more recently in Barcelona under the auspices of the International Association of IT Lawyers (IAITL).
Jacolien Barnard was the first representative from the Department of Mercantile Law to address the conference on issues relating to the ‘Redress for Consumers in terms of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008’. Next up was Sylvia Papadopoulos who delivered her paper entitled ‘The Draft Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement: A South African Perspective’, and shortly thereafter Prof Corlia van Heerden delivered her paper entitled ‘Unsolicited Goods or Services in terms of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008’.
Sylvia also served on the open panel which discussed Cyber and Intellectual Law issues .
