To apply for the LLM programme applicants must be in possession of an LLB degree by the end of 2013. To apply for the LLD programme applicants must be in possession of an LLM degree by the end of 2013.

Two full-time LLD bursaries of R150 000 each per year and two full-time LLM bursaries of R85 000 each per year are available to eligible candidates who meet the selection requirements. Bursary holders will serve as research and lecturing assistants and will be required to work up to 20 hours per week and must publish one academic article per year. The renewal of the bursary is subject to an annual evaluation and satisfactory progress being made.
