Academic profile
 

Ms Khodani Sengwane (Nee Tshidzumba) is a Lecturer in the Department of Mercantile Law. She holds the degrees LLB with distinction (UP), LLM (UP) and PGD in International Tax (UJ).  Khodani teaches Tax Law, Tax Administration, Payment Methods and Business Law. 

 

 

Academic and professional experience

During her LLB studies, Khodani was a tutor in the Department of Private Law and served as a secretary and later as a director in the Student Disciplinary and Advisory Panel. 

After graduating with her LLB, Khodani worked in the Department of Mercantile Law as an Academic Associate while completing her LLM. 

Khodani then went to complete her articles at Webber Wentzel and was admitted as an attorney and notary public of the High Court of South Africa in 2018. 

Khodani worked as a corporate commercial law associate at Malan Scholes for a year. In 2019, Khodani joined the International Tax team at Deloitte as an Assistant Manager, where she advised various multinational clients on international and corporate tax matters.

In 2021, Khodani was a part-time lecturer at the University of Pretoria. Khodani also worked at KPMG in the corporate tax team before joining the University of Pretoria as a full time lecturer.

 

Teaching activities
 

Ms Khodani Sengwane (Nee Tshidzumba) is currently teaching Tax Law and Payment Methonds.

 

Areas of specialisation

 

Khodani’s main research focus areas are International Tax, Income Tax and Corporate Law.  Khodani also has a growing interest in certain aspects of Labour Law.
