Academic profile

Mrs van der Westhuizen is a part-time lecturer in the Department of Mercantile Law. She obtained an LLB Law degree in 2000 and an LLM (Mercantile Law) degree in 2002 from the University of Pretoria. 

Academic and professional experience

Mrs van der Westhuizen has been involved with the Department of Mercantile Law since 2001, when she was appointed as an Academic Associate, and has since been involved with the Department in a part-time capacity.

She is an admitted attorney, notary and conveyancer, with right of appearance in the High Court, and a member of the Legal Practice Council.

Teaching activities

Mrs van der Westhuizen teaches Commercial Law 200 (KRG200) to undergraduate students and Legal Aspects (ILC803) to postgraduate students.

Areas of specialisation

Her main areas of interest are within the fields of Property Law.
