Dr Magau

Academic profile

Dr Phemelo Magau is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mercantile Law. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Master of Laws (LLM) with Mercantile Law and Doctor of Laws (LLD) with Mercantile Law from the North-West University (NWU). 

 

Academic and professional experience

Magau has the record of being one of the young black South Africans to complete his LLD in two years at the age of 25 years.Before joining the University of Pretoria, he worked at  the North-West University and the University of KwaZulu-Natal where he taught Corporate Law, Insolvency Law and Advanced Contract Law, among others. Dr Magau is very passionate about and has a penchant for his career in academia. This is evident from, among others, an emerging track record of publications and postgraduate supervision as well as his active involvement in vibrant academic platforms, including conferences. He is a member of the organising committee for the Annual International Corporate & Financial Markets Law Conference.

  

Teaching activities

Dr Magau currently teaches in the areas of Business Law and Consumer Law both at undergraduate  and postgraduate level.

Dr Magau specialises in  Consumer Law, Insolvency Law, Corporate and Commercial Law Aspects of Banking and Financial Law
