Position, academic and professional qualifications
Carolina Meyer is a Lecturer in the Department of Mercantile Law and holds the degrees BCom Law, LLB, LLM (Pret). She is currently enrolled for her doctorate (LLD) in Taxation Law and Company Law.
Academic and professional experience
After graduating with her LLB from the University of Pretoria, Carolina completed her articles of clerkship from 2011 to 2012 at a law firm in Pretoria. She enrolled for her LLM in Tax Law and started her career in 2013 as a tax consultant in the International Tax team at Deloitte. She spent five years at Deloitte, advising various multinational clients on international and corporate tax matters. She was appointed as Head of Tax of a multinational ICT company in 2018, where she was responsible for the South African and international tax of the group.
She served as an extraordinary lecturer for a period of two years at the University of Pretoria, before joining the Mercantile Law team on a permanent basis in April 2020.
Teaching activities
She teaches Tax Law.
Areas of specialisation
Her primary research interest is Tax Law. Related interests include Company Law and Trust Law.
