Position, academic and professional qualifications
Ashley Nyaude is a Lecturer in the Department of Mercantile Law and holds the degrees LLB, LLM (Pret). She is currently writing her doctoral thesis titled “Regulatory measures to address bank failures in Zimbabwe”.
Academic and professional experience
After graduating with her LLB from the University of Pretoria, Nyaude enrolled for an LLM in Mercantile Law degree at the University of Pretoria. During her LLM studies (2014 to 2015), she was an Academic Associate in the Department of Mercantile Law at University of Pretoria.
During this time she attended the Law, Justice and Development (LJD) Week 2014: Financing and Implementing the Post-2015 Development Agenda and the Law, Justice and Development (LJD) Week 2015: Governance and the law, hosted by The World Bank at The World Bank Headquarters in Washington D.C. In January 2016,
Nyaude joined attorneys Cheadle, Thompson and Haysom Inc as a candidate attorney and consequently completed her articles of clerkship in May 2018.
Nyaude is also a developer of learning material for the Independent Institute of Education (IIE). She has developed a module manual in Companies and other Business Structures and several tests and examinations in Company law, Commercial law and Sports law.
Teaching activities
Nyaude has inter alia taught Banking Law, Tax Law, Commercial Law and Business Law.
Areas of specialisation
Her main research interest is Banking and Finance Law (bank resolution). Related interests include Tax law, Competition law, ICT and Cyber law and Specific contracts.

Nyaude was a member of the South African Society for Labour Law (SASLAW) Gauteng Chapter from 2016 to 2017 and is currently a member of the Scientific Committee Member of the African Tax Research Network.
