Vision
The ITPC’s vision is to become a recognised centre that produces quality research and training in the area of international economics and to develop levels of expertise in a wide range of trade-related aspects.
The ITPC’s mission is to deliver expert human capacity and policy advice in different aspects of trade policy, through excellent research and teaching.
Objectives

research on international trade policy matters;

the support of teaching in international trade policy;

academic liaison and the dissemination of research findings through public lectures, conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops, and publications;

enhance intra-Africa trade;

policy advice and formulation.
It specifically strives to:

facilitate the development of appropriate trade policy and practice;

enhance the promotion of South Africa’s exports through scientific research;

increase and broaden the base of knowledge regarding the debate around trade issues in Africa, Southern Africa, and in particular in South Africa;

identify export sectors and export destinations given the South African economy’s comparative advantage and production potential;
