Wenda Nel was first in action with a silver medal and season’s best 54.61sec in the women’s 400-metre hurdles.
In the long jump Luvo Manyonga in his first international competition for five years was good for seventh in 8.03m. Akani Simbini finished in 5th in the 100m with a 10.13sec clocking. Simbine though, was running his first race since injuring a hamstring at nationals in Stellenbosch two months ago.
