Posted on August 24, 2015

Lebogang Shange, hpc sponsored athlete again kept his word at the World Championships in Beijing (23/08) he broke the South African 20km race walk record for a second time this season.

Shange finished 11th in a time 1 hour 21 minutes and 43 seconds, 0.07 seconds faster than his previous record. It was the fifth time this season that Lebogang managed to break a South African record but what is even more encouraging is that, for the first time ever, South Africa has a race walker who is able to take on the world’s best.

Shange’s record time is just 2 minutes and 9 seconds slower than that of Spain’s Miguel Lopez who won in 1:19.14. China’s Zhen Wang was second in 1:19:29 and Canada’s Benjamin Thorpe third in 1:19:57.
