A collaboration between the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture & Recreation (GDSACR) and the hpc has been established with the vision of preparing 22 marathon runners from Gauteng to participate in the Comrades Marathon on an annual basis. The project is funded by GDSACR and the Sport Science division of the hpc assisted with sport science testing, gait analyses, training program (running and strength) as well as talks and lectures in their preparations for the race.
This was a very successful project as all 22 athletes completed the marathon. See the attachment for full results.
