Wenda Nel, hpc sponsored athlete and SA 400-hurdles champion so nearly doubled up for the World Championships by also qualifying in the 400m at the SA Open Champs in Potchefstroom.
She won her 400-heat in a time of 52.09s which is just 0.09s slower than the A-standard qualification of 52.00s.
She continued to win the 400m H race on Saturday in 54.90s, her fastest time for this year sofar.
Wenda’s next race will be an IAAF event in Beijing on 20 May.
