Wenda Nel, Akani Simbine qualified for World’s

Both Wenda Nel and Akani Simbine qualified for the World Championships in Beijing at the Athletics Gauteng North Championships at Tuks last night.

Nel was impressive in the 400-hurdles winning in a time of 55.20s. Myrtle Bothma (53.47s) and Surita Febbraio (54.05s) are the only South Africans to have run faster times.

Simbine set a personal best time by winning the 200m in 20.27s, proving again that he is in excellent form at the moment. 

They now join LJ van Zyl who won the 400-hurdles on Thursday night in Sasolburg in 49.26s and in doing so qualified for a second time for the World Championships.


Other results:

Duwayne Boer won the long jump with a distance of 7.63m.
