Posted on January 10, 2017

Brandon Stone, 2016 champion will defend his title at the BMW SA Open starting on January 12.
Boasting five major winners in Ernie Els, Rory McIlroy, Sir Nick Faldo, Retief Goosen and Darren Clarke – and three former world number ones in Els, Faldo and McIlroy – the co-sanctioned event continues to live up to being one of the favourite events for many professionals in both The European Tour and the Sunshine Tour.

The star-studded field at Glendower Golf Club for the BMW SA Open is testimony that the second oldest national open championship in the world continues to grow and remains a worthy destination for some of the world’s best golfers.

Among the best young talent in the field to compete are Haydn Porteous, Zander Lombard and Christiaan Bezuidenhout, while established players such as Andy Sullivan, Keith Horne, Goosen and veteran James Kingston will also participate in Ekurhuleni.

The return of McIlroy to South Africa to play in this event further establishes importance of this tournament in world golf but also affords some of the brightest young golfers an opportunity to test themselves against the very best in the business.

Amateurs like Jovan Rebula, the Scot Craig Ross and Dylan Naidoo (ex-TuksSport High School learner) among others will be looking to play their best golf yet, and etch their names in history books along players like Els, Trevor Immelman and Richard Sterne.
