TuksGolf: Demi Flanagan Open Champion at Bank Windhoek Namibia Amateur Strokeplay Championship

Fifty players took part in the Bank Windhoek Namibia Amateur Ladies Strokeplay Championship, which took place last weekend, 25 – 26 April 2015. Local Namibian lady golfers, as well as visitors from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Botswana entered for the event hosted at Omeya Golf Course.  The tournament was contested over 36 holes in Open, Closed, Stableford and Senior sections. 

All international and Namibian players entered for the Open, while the Closed Championships was reserved for Namibian players only.

Demi Flanagan [TuksGolf] was the leader after the first round with a 3 under par 69.  Namibia’s Caro Els scored a 72, while Cara Gorlei of South Africa, carded 73 and Swanelle de Lange, also of South Africa, carded 78.  On Sunday, Gorlei played an excellent 70, but both Flanagan and Els held on to their lead by scoring 71 each.  After the tournament, Flanagan, from South Africa was crowned Open Champion.

Best Nett:                              B Tilowakuti – Zim (144)

Runner/up Gross:                   C Gorlei - SA (143)

Runner/up Nett:                      A Pienaar – Nam (149)
