TuksGolf : Friendship lays foundation for victory

Posted on October 19, 2010

A total of 12 teams competed for the title and the course of the Wingate Park Country Club was a true test for the players.

The pairing of Michael Armstrong and Matthew Adams started with a blistering pace and made 23 points on their first nine holes closely followed by Morne Oosthuizen and Wian Faber with 21 points.

The pairing of Oosthuizen and Faber made up their shortfall over the last nine holes to finish with 42 points, the same as Armstrong and Matthews. But Armstrong and Adams edged the rest of the field out on a count-out and took the top honours for 2010.

Armstrong and Matthews are both third year Sport Science students and best of friends off the field. They enjoyed competing in a team event against their fellow students.

“We really played well and are both playing some of the best golf of our lives!” says Adams.

The next and final club event for the year will be the TuksGolf Foursomes Cup that will take place on 4 November 2010 at Services Golf Club.
