The girls played their first round on Saturday afternoon on immaculate greens and superb fairways, but with a very strong easterly wind.   Royal Johannesburg and Kensington player, Lara Weinstein was undeterred by the fast greens and challenging winds and carded a magnificent 6 under par 67 with a total of 11 birdies. Her nearest rival after 18 holes was Western Province player, Ji Sun Kang who came in on level par 73, with Bianca Theron (Boland), Magda Kruger (Gauteng North) and Maggie du Toit (Southern Cape) following closely behind on 75.

Carrie Park (Gauteng North) enjoyed the quiet conditions on Sunday morning and signed for a three-under par 70 and Bianca Theron improved her first round score by 3 shots.  Lara couldn’t improve on her excellent first round, but played steadily and recorded a one over par 74.   The afternoon conditions proved more difficult with the best afternoon round being carded by Monja Richards (KZN) on one under par 72.   But Lara’s superb first round 67 kept her in the top spot and with a total of 216 over the 54 holes, she lifted the trophy.    Bianca Theron came second on 220 followed closely by Magda Kruger, Carrie Park and Ji Sun Kang all on 224.
