Faculty of Health Sciences Transformation

The Transformation Committee aims to drive a culture change in the Faculty by fostering a culture that promotes inclusivity and respect for fundamental human rights as well as assisting in creating an environment where staff and students thrive.


The Transformation Committee acknowledges the importance of providing a platform for meaningful engagement on transformation and where ideas and perspectives will be heard and implemented, where possible. The disclosure of the information is regulated by section 16 of the Labour Relations Act (1995) and the University’s Code of Conduct, the Committee will treat information as confidential and restricted unless there are elements of endangerment. In order to meet these objectives, members of the Committee take care to familiarize themselves with the following:

  • Relevant legislation 
  • Codes of conduct and dispute resolution procedures
  • Transformational-related issues that affect the University

Role of the Committee

  1. Review, monitor and make recommendations on transformation projects to ensure the achievement of relevant objectives and targets;
  2. Propose amendments to relevant transformation matters;
  3. Have an oversight role on the progress made in transformation within the faculty in terms of the Transformation Charter and transformation objectives of the University;
  4. Report regularly to the ITC through the chair of the FTC, 
  5. The Committee is focused on addressing transformation issues and building capacity to support strategic University objectives.
  6. Create access to relevant transformation policies, create awareness of the committee and its functions and create awareness of transformation-related matters.
