FEATURING - South African Indigenous Foods by Bomme Basemzansi and Tshidi Moroka.

Posted on September 11, 2018

The Special Collections Book of the Week this week is:

South African Indigenous Foods by Bomme Basemzansi and Tshidi Moroka.

A collection of recipes of indigenous foods, prepared by generations of women. In 2000, the CSIR was tasked to investigate the production of indigenous foods that could be commercialised, looking specifically at the stabilisation and packaging of foods that can be easily prepared, have a stable shelf-life and are available throughout the year. Made possible by the participation of rural communities, this recipe book is a small, but significant outcome of the project.
